Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I want to hire you to review my work...how do I do that?

A: First, be sure you have read our pricing and terms of service pages.  If you have questions about anything on those pages, consult the rest of this FAQ.  If you still have questions, e-mail us!  Once you've understood everything, visit our guidelines page.  That's where you will find all of the detailed information you'll need to know about how our submission process works.  When you've got all of your information ready to send, click on the submission form link on the guidelines page.  This will take you to an online form which will ask for all of the information we will need in order to accept your submission for review.  Once you complete and send that form, it will automatically send us an e-mail containing your document(s) and information.  Within just a few hours, we will e-mail you back a Paypal invoice for the service you have requested. If you have requested to pay by cash or check, our e-mail will contain information about how to complete that form of payment.  Once your payment clears, we will begin work on your submission, and return it to you within the time frame you specified when you placed your order.  That's the process in a nutshell; be sure to fully read the guidelines page for a more detailed step-by-step description!

Q: I am a good student; why do I need someone else to look over my work?

A: After you have read and reread your work two or three times, you naturally begin to lose track of what is on the page now compared to what it said before you made changes.  The more you revise things, the worse this problem becomes.  Old typos become more and more difficult to spot, and new ones creep in.  For best results, you need someone else to read your work before you turn it in to your teacher or your supervisor; a fresh pair of eyes are much more likely to spot those errors that you've missed.  This is why even professional writers have editors!

Q: My school has a paper review service; why should I pay for that kind of service myself?

A: First of all, you get what you pay for.  The quality of free services can vary widely, depending on the level of skill of the individual(s) doing the reviewing.  Here, you are hiring professional experts to work for you, so you know that the quality of the work will be high.  Secondly, your school's free service may not offer the options you want, or may not be as convenient for you.  After all, most of those services require you to set aside an hour or two for an in-person review, which may not fit into your busy schedule.  Thirdly, a really important project may be worth running through both the free service and a paid service, for extra-thorough coverage.  Comparing feedback from multiple sources is an excellent way to improve your skills.

Q: How much will it cost to have my work reviewed by ACE?

A: That depends on what you want done.  Service prices are based on how soon you need your reviewed document back from us, how long the document is, and what level of detail you want used in the review.  You can save money by submitting your paper well in advance of the deadline.  Check out our pricing page for more details.

Q: Is it ethical to ask someone else to help me with my paper?

A: Absolutely.  Students routinely ask for homework help from parents, siblings, roommates, classmates, teachers, or others.  As long as you write the rough draft yourself, the work is yours.  Asking for help in identifying and correcting mistakes is just a faster, surer way to learn than simple trial-and-error.

Q: I have an assignment or a project on a topic that isn't listed on your website; can you still review it for me?

A: Probably.  Send us the document and information about the project guidelines through our usual submission process.  When we receive your information and look it over, we will give you an honest answer about whether or not it falls outside of our area of expertise.  If we can, we'll review it; if not, we will let you know immediately, so you can keep searching for help.

Q: Do you review electronic or hard-copy documents?

A: The answer is: yes!  We can review electronic documents in Microsoft Word formats (*.doc or *.docx), rich text format (*.rtf), or plain text format (*.txt).  We can also review paper documents, although in that case it is your responsibility to arrange with us how we will receive and return the document before and after review.

Got more questions?  E-mail us, and we will get back to you as soon as possible with answers!
